A number of our fantastic team at Our Space Community Centre and Library in Ellesmere were recently honoured at the annual Town Mayor’s Awards with outgoing mayor, Graham Hutchinson!
Our Library Assistant, Sally Poynton was honoured for all her work at the library, including running community projects over the last few years such as the Meremaid trail and in particular the creation of her book, published last year, all about the life of Eglantyne Jebb.
Our Library Manager Sheila Williams was honoured for all her work supporting the Friends of the Library when they campaigned to keep the library in Ellesmere open in 2017 and since moving to Our Space from Fullwood House, being dedicated to serve the community well with the Library service and events we hold.
Thanks to our brilliant team and fantastic supporters, the library has been thriving at its home in Our Space.
We were also fortunate to receive a donation from Mayor’s Charity Account towards our Ellesmere Memory Cafe which is run from Our Space. This wonderful donation of over £800 will make such a huge difference to the Memory Cafe and allow us to continue to support people in the Ellesmere community effected by dementia, including those living with dementia, their families and friends.
Our Space Community Centre and Library is a vibrant community hub and offers a diverse range of groups and activities such as a day opportunities group for adults with learning disabilities, our friendship group for older people and Memory Cafe. We also host a range of groups including Hearing Hub, Stop Smoking Clinic, mental health support, domestic abuse support, veterans support, careers support, Lego club, over 60s film club, food share and more!
