Blossom Barns has had a busy summer, attending Chelmarsh Fete and the Burwarton Show!
Chelmarsh Fete:
We were honoured to be invited to open the Chelmarsh Fete on what turned out to be a very sunny day! We were joined by our staff members Andrew and Laura, along with several of the people we support, who helped set up the day before.
Ceri, our manager, officially opened the fete with Guy, one of the people we support. Guy helped introduce Blossom Barns to the crowd and wrapped up the opening speech with a “Let’s get this party started!”, a perfect opening for the Morris dancers who kicked off the festivities!
The fete was well attended and gave us a brilliant opportunity to sell some of our produce to raise funds for the farm and catch up with some familiar faces!
Burwarton Show:
Preparations for the Burwarton Show this year were full-on, with everyone at Blossom Barns pitching in. In the weeks leading up to the show, the people we support worked hard to rebrand our stall with new signage, updated photos, and a beautiful handmade twine sign.
We were also asked to create extra planters for the Members’ Tent, which we crafted from wood and painted. On the day, we brought along lots of flowers, including table arrangements for the Member’s Tent and cut flowers for our own stall.
Our woodwork creations, including teapot bird feeders, welly stands, and beer caddies were a big hit, and we made sure everything looked its best by keeping the flowers well-watered in the lead-up to the show.
This year, we had a few extra logistics to manage as we’re now based further from the showground, but our team pulled together brilliantly. We proudly wore our new polo shirts, kindly sponsored by RDS Electrical and Shotton Landscapes.
We raised an amazing £450, one of our best years yet! All funds will go directly back into supporting the farm.
It was lovely to see returning customers who remembered us from our Oak Farm days, as well as meeting new faces. We received great feedback on our WI horticultural entries, including a first prize for our onions!
We’d like to thank everyone who came out to support us at both events. We’re already looking forward to next year!
