Treat Me Well Shropshire Welcomes Vaccine Announcement

Bethphage & Treat Me Well Shropshire are delighted by the news that the Joint Commission on Vaccination and Immunisation has advised the government to prioritise people on the Learning Disability Register for the coronavirus vaccination immediately.

This is a monumental victory for all those who have been campaigning for people with learning disabilities to be prioritised within the vaccination rollout & will go a long way in ensuring protection for the thousands of people with a learning disability across the country that were overlooked in the initial rollout.

Research has shown people with a learning disability are at a greater risk of dying from Covidit is vitally important that these people are given the chance to receive the protection that the vaccine offers.

However, it is estimated that 1.2 million people in England have a learning disability, but only 150,000 people are on the Learning Disability Register. If you are unsure if you are on the Learning Disability Register, talk to your GP.

Mencap offer a wide range of resources about joining the Learning Disability Register on their website.
