Blossom Barns celebrates its best Burwarton Show yet

Blossom Barns, Bethphage’s farm-based day opportunity for adults with learning disabilities, celebrated its most successful Burwarton Show to date, taking more than £800.

In the run-up to the show, everyone at Blossom Barns played a part in getting the stand ready. This year’s preparations focused strongly on woodwork creations, including cow planters, which proved especially popular on the day.

The achievement was especially meaningful after a challenging year for the farming community, with repeated heatwaves and a lack of rain affecting growing conditions.

This year, Blossom Barns took on a bigger contract with the Burwarton Show. Alongside the usual flower troughs at the entrance and Members’ Tent, and cut flower centrepieces, the team also provided flower arrangements for the Sponsors’ Tent and Village Hall.

Lidl in Shrewsbury kindly provided a last-minute donation of cut flowers, helping Blossom Barns complete arrangements affected by the recent heatwaves.

Ceri Burgess, the service manager said:

“We’d like to say a big thank you for the continued support from the Burwarton Show Committee.  We had a brilliant day and the people we support who attended loved it. As always, they came back with a wish list of animals and machinery for the farm! It is always such a friendly community to be part of, and we look forward to it every year.

I’d also like to thank Lidl in Shrewsbury for their kind flower donation and to all the staff and people we support that worked so hard in the months leading up to the show and on the day.

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to shout loud and proud about what the people we support achieve at the farm and we feel the quality of the stand and produce speaks for itself.”
