Our Space’s Sally Reveals her Eglantyne Jebb Booklet Front Cover!

Following on from our sneak preview of local artist and Our Space Library Assistant, Sally Poynton’s  booklet on  Eglantyne Jebb, we are delighted to share with you her recently created front cover.  Sally is creating  the booklet to commemorate 100 years since the signing of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child which was drafted by Save the Children co-founder Jebb.

We caught up with Sally again recently where she was happy to share the artwork and chat about her recent meeting with HRH Princess Anne.

Sally explained,

“The front cover is Warhol inspired, all the colours used for the cover have a meaning and represent a part of Eglantyne’s life included in the book.“

Sally  gave an update on how the book is progressing, she is working with a local layup artist who is helping transform Sally’s intricate cuttings to the page. Sally said:

“Things are progressing nicely but there are still lots of things to do, I am working on the words and the revisions and hope for the booklet to be ready to print in August where they will be distributed within the local community who are so proud of Ellesmere’s connection to the Jebb family.

Sally also reflected with delight at the recent Save the Children Fundraiser she attended in  Ellesmere which hosted Save the Children’s patron, HRH Princess Anne. Sally said that “Princess Anne is very knowledgeable about Eglantyne and her life.  We had a nice conversation, she enquired about the silhouette on the front cover and was very supportive of the project. I told her she would be getting a copy of the book!”

We cannot wait to see the final booklet when all the pictures and words are put together. Watch this space for more updates on Sally’s Eglantyne Project!

Bethphage are deeply saddened and shocked at the recent violence, unrest and rioting that has been taking place across the country. Racism plays no part in our society, we know that the actions of this small minority of individuals does not reflect the wider views of the British public who are open, tolerant and law-abiding citizens.
