Staff Conference 2016
Derek Lum Chair of Trustees present trophies and certificates to winners of the 2016 Staff Awards at the conclusion of the Staff Conference in May.
Congratulations to this year’s winners:
- Emma Bradbury and Stacey Bourne – joint winners of the Donna Werner Award (Employee of the Year)
- Colin’s team – Kim Hodges, Linda Edwards and Christine Vernon, winners of the Team of the Year award
- Anna Gillions – Positive Behaviour Support Team Manager, winner of the Manager of the Year Award
The Employee of the Year Award is named in tribute to Donna Werner who came from the USA in 1993 and stayed to develop services in the UK, working with Shropshire Council to create Bethphage. It is an honour and a pleasure to still have Donna on the board of trustees, along with a rich history of the organisation.
This year’s award was shared between Emma Bradbury from one of our specialist registered services – Bradbury Court – and Stacey Bourne – one of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) team members. Both were nominated and chosen as finalists for their excellent work in making a difference to the lives of the people they encounter every day. Working in the care sector can be incredibly rewarding both for the people we support and for the staff and it’s wonderful to be able to appreciate excellent support.
The Team award this year went to a small team of three staff who support a man in the Telford area, it was clear from the nomination that they work exceptionally well to go above and beyond, meeting his needs very effectively. Christine, Linda and Kim work exceptionally well together and in partnership with other organisations to make community care a pleasure for the man they support as his health and needs change steadily.
Finally this year’s manager award went to Anna Gillions. Anna has been with us since April 2011 and has worked tirelessly to focus Bethphage on being a Positive Behaviour Organisation. Anna’s drive, in particular, is leading the PBS team and working consistently to inspire and enthuse our most precious assets (our staff). Anna delivers excellent PBS training and also works effectively with teams to enable them to deliver person centred, positive behaviour support to people who need the added extra.
Derek Lum also presented mementoes to EMT members who steered Bethphage through most of the year between Chief Executives and certificates to staff who have completed qualifications and received training awards during the year.
