A number of\u00a0people we support at Blossom Barns were delighted to be\u00a0take part in\u00a0the inclusive\u00a0race day at Ludlow Racecourse\u00a0with\u00a0<\/span>Autism in Racing<\/span><\/a>!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Autism in Racing & Ludlow Racecourse used the day to highlight how racing events can be more accessible for autistic individuals, their families and support workers.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Held in February, the race day designed the event around inclusion. They\u00a0had dedicated quiet and sensory spaces along with a sensory emergency bus positioned across the track.\u00a0Autism in Racing\u00a0also\u00a0had a welcome\u00a0room on the ground floor, providing a quiet space for people to use throughout the day when needed.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The people we support had the opportunity to see racehorses in the paddocks and experience the atmosphere of a live race day.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I really enjoyed the race day. My favourite part was when my horse won the race.”<\/span><\/i>\u00a0– Karl<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I really liked the race day. The quiet sensory room was very calming and had some\u00a0good ideas. We got to meet the racehorses and jockeys which was a great experience.”\u00a0<\/span><\/i>– Richard\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“All of it was great, an interesting fun day out. My favourite part was being able to get close to the racehorses.” –\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Laura<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
